So then what is this? Well it is of course a new year, okay it is January 2026 and it is of course the 29th of January 2026 and well something new is on the way, something interesting which of course is an idea that I have had in the back of the mind, a new project that has come about thanks in a lot of ways due to my great love and affection for a small area of Nottinghamshire Woodland called "Watnall Woods." For it was in Lockdown - albeit when restrictions had been eased quite a lot, that I had come across Watnall Woods, for me at least it is classed as one of those infamous,
"Lockdown Discoveries."
And that is exactly what it was - an area local to me that I had not explored before, but thanks to restrictions on lockdown being eased slightly, it meant that I could head out into the local area and explore, the exploration on this particular day had bought me to Watnall Woods, and upon entering the woods I was just left in awe, for despite its proximity to the more built up and suburban areas, Watnall Woods seemed to be something of a sanctuary away from the rushes of modern life, and walking around the woods I came across an area full of nature and beauty.
Of course the various lockdown restrictions were eased and life went back to a strange kind of new normal, and then of course the normal that we know now, but since visiting Watnall Woods and discovering it, during a very different time, well I have been visiting Watnall Woods ever since. Yes, I am primarily a landscape and drone landscape photographer - but I have always had something mulling over in the back of the mind which has gone a bit like this,
"Wouldn't it be great to have something dedicated for Watnall Woods, something in which I can share my experiences of Watnall Woods, the nature of Watnall Woods and have a space to upload videos of Watnall Woods to, and that of course would involve using something like YouTube."
That idea in the back of the mind for some reason fairly recently came to the front of my mind, and as it is a new year (2026) I thought that I may as well act on that, and surely enough I have done. As of today on the 29th of January 2026, I have decided to start A/. the Watnall Woods YouTube Channel and B/.This (hopefully to be interesting) Watnall Woods Blog - which is where I shall endeavour throughout this year to upload various photos of Watnall Woods, and of course any videos from the Watnall Woods YouTube Channel, and talk about the changes and the beauty throughout the seasons that I come across.
